Recently I have been needing a change of work, but not only a change of jobs, I needed a change in careers. So I set out and applied, and I’m happy to report that I did find another job. The hours will be even longer, and I might blog even less, but I’m really excited. I’ll start in two weeks and it’s hectic finalizing everything.

Does it makes sense?

I think senses are a wonderful thing. I was cooking Sunday for a shared lunch with friends. I got up early, baked a Melktert, which is a traditional South African dessert, then I put the roast in the oven and started the veggies. While it was simmering away, I sat at my PC working in Photoshop and the aroma which filled the house just reminded me of when I was small and reading or doing something in my room, while my mom cooked. I almost wanted to call out to her to have a look at what I’m doing or ask her if I could peel the potatoes for her. Instead I got up and took some pictures of the food feast and Whatsapp’ed (new word 😉 ) it to her, knowing that she will be sleeping, but will be waking up to my photos, since she is half a world away. It is wonderful how a sense of smell can bring back so many homely, loving, treasured memories.

But on a whole unrelated note, I must have clicked on something inworld, because for the past few weeks I have been receiving landmarks when various events are about to open. Most of the events I was not even aware of. I’m definitely not complaining, who doesn’t like interesting landmarks to be delivered to your door? That is how I discovered the Spring Break Fair. I went for a nosey and there are some well known brands, as well as some I’m not so familiar with, but certainly a good selection, something for everyone’s taste. Also the layout of the fair is clean and holiday’ish.

Another fair happening on the grid at the moment is the Monochromatic Fair. I found these amazing pair of boots from CandyDoll there. I think I might go back for more colors. The layout of the fair is like a shopping district and it is not laggy at all. So go check it out!

I am making the most of my Easter weekend, and enjoying it so much. One of the things I have been doing is permitting myself some luxuries, like scrolling through Flickr while I lay all snuggley in bed. But I had to get up as the sun was out for the first time in weeks, so I took the opportunity to take Oliver (the pooch) for a run. He was feeling a little frustrated by being inside day in and day out. The feeling of sun shining on my face was so revitalizing.

With both of us totally content and vitamin D loaded, I logged in to have a browse though all the current events, and man.. there are many. I ended up at The Theme Park and loved the decor, so yes, you guessed it.. I had to take a selfie. Friday 4pm

This week was one of those weeks that was better just spent in bed with a constant supply of coffee, a snoring, cuddly dog and my laptop. But instead I had to pull up my big lady panties, put some color on my face, actually wash and comb my hair and face the big wide world out there, with the promise that it will be Friday soon.

I’m not the sort of person who like to wish my life away… okay, who am I kidding, by Wednesday of every week, I look forward to Friday. It’s not that I don’t enjoy my job, hell who doesn’t find the crazy criminal mind interesting, but an overdose and it starts to rub off on you. The crazy part, not the criminal part.

My reason for this whole conversation though is to work out whyyyy I love Friday afternoon 4pm so much. It’s my job to ask why, okay? It’s because how it makes me feel. How does it make me feel? Free. To do what I choose to do, for as long as I feel like doing it… or until Sunday night 11pm, when I go to bed, like a responsible person. Cos yeah, I’m mostly responsible.

But! Friday nights… it has so many possibilities and there are two ways I spent mine, both end the same though. I go out for drinks with friends after work. Have a wonderfully nice bottle of wine, or two with a yummy dinner, go home, cuddle with my doggy in front of the TV and pass out.

Or… on my way home, buy pizza and pork ribs, because yummy. Drag my mattress into my lounge with all my bedding, strip down to my undies, get comfy and proceed to catch up on all my recorded episodes of everything, while I munch on my pizza and ribs. Until I cuddle with my doggy and pass out.

And this is why I will forever love Friday 4pm.

Shocking Discovery

This past week just ran me over and moved at the speed of a runaway train. Leaving me totally bewildered, overwhelmed but amused at the same time. Strange combination of emotions but we all have our strange moments. I have also discovered that I share personality traits with one of New Zealand’s high profile criminals. How is this relevant to this post? That’s what amused me this week or was that the bewildered part.. well that’s up for discussion.

Something I’m sure of though are the million review copies in my inbox, which contributed to the overwhelmed part. So let me tell you about some of it. Have you heard of the Unknown Hunt?
