Name?

I know this has been blogged before, but I think this is still an interesting topic. What made you decide on your Second Life name? I had this conversation earlier today and there are so many reasons. I didn’t think that I would even log on a second time, so I thought about my first name and my last name, which I had to choose from a set list, but added the 500 randomly.I think we should start a meme about how you decided on your name. Who’s up for it?

My look for the day is mostly from !Admiral Spicy!  I liked the 3/4 jeans with the rolled cuffs. I was also looking for a sexy top to wear with it, when I saw this lovely top instore. I recently bought Lola Tango’s but with this top it looks like you are wearing it, without actually wearing it. It’s also a great buy for only 99L. And then of course, my new N-core shoes.. yes I’m still wearing it.  At this stage, I will even bath with it – with my feet hanging out of the bath of course, just so I can look at them all the time.

Obsolescence

‘The process of becoming obsolete; falling into disuse or becoming out of date.

I came across this word in a book I was reading this afternoon and I liked it, the way it rolls off the tongue. Things become obsolescence when it’s not needed, and things become less needed when you substitute it with something else or outgrow it. That in itself can be a good thing, as growth is always good. (or mostly, if it’s not sideways 😉 ).

There was a time last year when I thought normal shirt, pants, jacket layered clothes will become obsolescence due to mesh, but suddenly Lola Tango’s was introduced and all mesh clothing production stopped to go back to normal layered clothes – or am I totally wrong? We still have the same old templates, but it feels like nothing new is being made. I was wondering, did the creators jump on the chance to rather make Tango appliers for their clothes than making mesh products as it’s easier? I appreciate that to make a brand new mesh product, needs skill and time. Did creators take the easy way out to stay with the familiar? These days I see more male mesh products and mesh furniture than new female mesh clothes. Is there a shift in Second Life? Or is that just my perception?

Something that will never become obsolescence, is Second Life fashion, mesh or not. I visited Collaborate and the new event The Liaison Collaborative and picked up this cute outfit. Also I love the new N-Core shoes!

Attention. Intention.

I read a very interesting article today around being aware of the words you use. Do you normally use words that may be perceived as negative or do you generally us positive phrases? Do you say stuff like ‘I’m trying to lose weight’? Or do you say I made the decision to lead a healthy life? ‘Trying’ implies that you may or may not fail, which gives you the option to fail. That may be perceived as negative, were making a decision to live healthier, is more definite, more positive and leaves less room for failure. This can be applied to most words we use. This just proves that words have a huge influence on mindsets. It shows the power that words can have.

I wonder if words will change my impulsive buying streak. I always said that I wouldn’t buy Lola Tango’s but yes, I have. They are still boxed in my inventory for the past 3 days, but I do have them. In my defense  I blame it on the Whore Couture Fair. I visited the fair and the clothes on offer are so amazing, I just had to get them. The outfit below is Whore Couture inspired. The top is from Spearsong and then I had a sneak preview of the Skin Fair – oh wow! The  quality is amazing. I just a to get his skin from Izzie’s – yup and a few others too! Skin fair is coming soon!
