The Flickr Struggle

The day before yesterday I tried to log into Flickr with my Google account without success. I know it has been giving me the message forever, that soon this will not be a possibility anymore. And I was really good, I immediately tried to link my old Yahoo account to the Flickr account, but it just didn’t want to work. So I gave up and decided to worry about it when I need too. The time to worry about it arrived yesterday.

Luckily I am on leave and had time to play around, stress, cry and curse. Nothing helped, so totally defeated, I turned it into something positive. I logged into my old unused Yahoo account, uploaded all my photos since 2011, all neatly in albums, named and dated, then tried to add all my contacts again, and added bucket loads of groups and by the end of the day, I stepped back, and thought… this was a blessing. I am so organised. Okay I did loose a lot of contacts, but with time I will get there again. I was feeling really accomplished.

This morning I woke up all refreshed and as my custom the past days, I lay all snuggley in bed, going through my Flickr contacts photos (my original account as it never logged out on my phone), when my phone informs me there is an update. I thought oh well, always willing to have the newest software and up to date, no better time than the present. A few minutes later, I was horrified!! With the update, my original Flickr account was signed out. I panicked! It was my ONLY link to my original, much loved account! Stubbornly I tried logging in with my Google account again and (YAY!!!), there was easy prompts to link my original account to a new Yahoo address which I had to create. So just like that, I am the proud owner of not just one but two ACCESSIBLE Flickr accounts! (yeah, don’t ask what I’m going to do with two). Suddenly my yesterday feels a lot less accomplished and I’m back on my messy original account, but so much happier.

After my Flickr ordeal, I did have  moment to go to the 100 Block Fashion Fair and picked up this gorgeous dress, shoes and pose. I really did feel accomplished yesterday!

Today will be my last post before Christmas as I will be going away for a few days. I’m really looking forward to the break. Hopefully when I return, I will have lots to tell you with heaps of new inspiration. I would like to wish you all a fabulous and happy Christmas. Appreciate your family if you are spending time with them, even if you feel like punching them in the face. Always remember there are a lot of people that are unable to be with theirs. Hi, I am square.

Cao recently did a post on her blog on depression, click on the link, it’s an interesting read. The post touched me, not because I am depressed, far from it, but she also talked about fitting in. Trying to force a square into a circle. That is exactly how I see myself.

A few weeks ago I asked the question on Plurk what they do to fit in and most of the answers were nothing. They gave up trying to fit in, they don’t care about fitting in. In my opinion, I think you only think you don’t, but in some degree you always try to fit in. I am an introvert, I tried being more extroverted, I find it stressful. Does that make me weird? If not, why do people judge me because of it? They don’t? Yes, they do. I have friends that get angry because I don’t feel like tp’ing them the second I log on to SL or tp to them. I have friends that keeps posting on FB, if you don’t IM me, then you are not my friend and you don’t care. I do care. If I don’t have anything to say, I’m not going to IM you and most days I don’t have anything to say. I’m also fine with just IM’ing you. I don’t need to have your avatar standing a few feet from me every single day we are online together. Why? I don’t know. I just like being on my own. I’m happy on my own. I’m relaxed on my own. I like having my own space. I like seeing you once in awhile, I feel pressured to see you everyday. Don’t get me wrong, I love my friends, and I love that my friends IM me, I enjoy friends, I just don’t have the same expectations of our friendship, I can’t be social every single day. Does this make me weird? I think so. I tried changing, I tried fitting into the circle. Sometimes I just need people to stretch their circle a little and I will make my edges smoother. Nothing is ever just black or white.

For all the friends I’ve lost over the past years, I see why you gave up. Sorry about that. Bridgette, thank you for stretching your circle 😀 ♥

Shocking Discovery

This past week just ran me over and moved at the speed of a runaway train. Leaving me totally bewildered, overwhelmed but amused at the same time. Strange combination of emotions but we all have our strange moments. I have also discovered that I share personality traits with one of New Zealand’s high profile criminals. How is this relevant to this post? That’s what amused me this week or was that the bewildered part.. well that’s up for discussion.

Something I’m sure of though are the million review copies in my inbox, which contributed to the overwhelmed part. So let me tell you about some of it. Have you heard of the Unknown Hunt? I think this is a wonderful idea to get new designers noticed. The designers participating in this hunt only opened their doors after June this year.
